Background information on use in cosmetics
“Petroleum distillates” is a liquid substance mixture of hydrocarbons which is obtained from mineral oil through fractional distillation. In cosmetic products it has film-forming, hydrophobing (water-repellent) properties and supports the gloss formation on the skin. Furthermore, it serves as consistency enhancer in creams and protects the skin from moisture loss. The mineral oils used in cosmetics are highly purified, very well tolerated and do not cause any skin irritations. For further information, see INCI name "PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM".
