Background information on use in cosmetics
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the human body and is an important component of various tissues such as the skin and the connective tissue. Hyaluronic acid ensures a soft and smooth skin since it can well bind water. With increasing age the body forms, however, significantly less hyaluronic acid. For that reason the skin loses in elasticity at a higher age and forms wrinkles. To counter this process, hyaluronic acid is often used as an anti-ageing active ingredient in products such as eye creams, skin and face creams as well as caring masks. In these products hyaluronic acid has the task of preserving the moisture in the skin by binding water in the upper cell layer. Visible signs of skin ageing can be mitigated in this way.
