Substance information
"Ethoxy" refers to a ethyl-oxygen group (CH3-CH2-O-). Diethoxy-, triethoxy- etc refer to two, three or more ethoxy groups. "Methyl" mostly refers to methanol (methyl alcohol) as alcoholic component or generally the methyl group as the smallest hydrocarbon residue with one carbon atom. Dimethyl-, trimethyl- etc refer to two, three or more methyl groups. "...Siloxy" generally refers to a silicone-oxygen group, particularly in siloxanes. Siloxanes are silicone compounds in which the silicone atoms are interlinked via oxygen bridges. Polymeric siloxanes are referred to as silicones. Ingredient on the basis of poly(di)methyl siloxane ("dimethicone").
