SAFFLOWER SEED OIL AMINOPROPANEDIOL AMIDES/ESTERS
Substance information
Ingredient on the basis of thistle oil (carthamus tinctorius seed oil). "Aminopropanediol" refers to 3-Amino-1,2-propanediol as alcoholic component of this ingredient. Amides are generally conversion products of carbonic acids (carboxylic acids, mostly fatty acids) or other acids with nitrogen compounds (ammonia or alkyl and alkanol amines, amino acids etc). Examples: "stearamides" are amides of the stearic acid, "cocamides" are amides of coconut fatty acids. "Ester" or "esters" refers to an esterification product (condensation product of alcohol and acid) or a trans-esterification product obtained through direct reaction of fats (mostly triglycerides) with alcohols.

Background information on use in cosmetics
Vegetable oils are characterised by a high share of (poly) unsaturated fatty acids, which are characteristic for the liquid consistency. As an admixture many vitamins, carotenoids and free fatty acids are present.
