Polymer or copolymer based on acrylamide or acrylamide derivatives. "...Amidopropyl" refers generally to a (fatty) acid amidopropyl grouping. "Lauryl" mostly refers to lauryl alcohol as alcoholic component or generally a hydrocarbon residue with 12 carbon atoms; "Dimonium …" refers to a quaternary dimethyl ammonium salt, mostly on the basis of fatty amines. Examples: "steardimonium…" contains a stearyl-(C18) carbon chain; "laurdimonium…" corresponds to a lauryl-(C12-) hydrocarbon residue. Chlorides are salts of hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid).

This substance is expressly approved and / or subject to a restriction as a result of an entry in Annex III of the EC Cosmetics Regulation after an assessment by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety of the EU Commission (SCCS). Subject to the conditions possibly imposed in Annex III, the use of this substance in cosmetic products is safe.
