The name component "carboxymethyl" means that individual hydroxy groups (mostly of sugar molecules) are linked to a carboxymethyl group (-CH2-COOH) as ether. Ingredient on the basis of cellulose (a polysaccharide). Acetates are salts or esters of acetic acid. Butyrates are salts or esters of the butanoic (butyric) acid.
