Substance information
"Hydroxy..." generally refers to a hydroxy (hydroxyl) group -OH; the functional group of alcohols. "Methoxy" refers to a methyl-oxygen group (CH3-O-). Dimethoxy-, trimethoxy- etc refer to two, three or more methoxy groups. "Benzyl" mostly refers to benzyl alcohol as alcoholic component or generally the benzyl (phenylmethyl) group as aromatic hydrocarbon residue. "Glycol" refers to divalent alcohol as alcoholic component of this ingredient (ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, pentylene glycol, hexylene glycol and others). Amides are generally conversion products of carbonic acids (carboxylic acids, mostly fatty acids) or other acids with nitrogen compounds (ammonia or alkyl and alkanol amines, amino acids etc).
