"Hydroxy..." generally refers to a hydroxy (hydroxyl) group -OH; the functional group of alcohols. "Methoxy" refers to a methyl-oxygen group (CH3-O-). Dimethoxy-, trimethoxy- etc refer to two, three or more methoxy groups. "Methyl" mostly refers to methanol (methyl alcohol) as alcoholic component or generally the methyl group as the smallest hydrocarbon residue with one carbon atom. Dimethyl-, trimethyl- etc refer to two, three or more methyl groups. Ingredient on the basis of poly(di)methyl siloxane ("dimethicone"). Amodimethicones are dimethicones with amino groups. "Cross polymer" refers to a crosslinked polymer.
