Ingredient
BIS-(BUTYL POLYDIMETHYLSILOXYL) BIS-OCTYL PYROMELLITAMIDE
Substance information
"Butyl" normally refers to butanol (1-butanol or n-butanol) as an alcoholic component or generally a saturated hydrocarbon chain with 4 carbon atoms. "Methyl" mostly refers to methanol (methyl alcohol) as alcoholic component or generally the methyl group as the smallest hydrocarbon residue with one carbon atom. Dimethyl-, trimethyl- etc refer to two, three or more methyl groups. "...Siloxy" generally refers to a silicone-oxygen group, particularly in siloxanes. Siloxanes are silicone compounds in which the silicone atoms are interlinked via oxygen bridges. Polymeric siloxanes are referred to as silicones. Amides are generally conversion products of carbonic acids (carboxylic acids, mostly fatty acids) or other acids with nitrogen compounds (ammonia or alkyl and alkanol amines, amino acids etc). Examples: "stearamides" are amides of the stearic acid, "cocamides" are amides of coconut fatty acids.
