OLEIC ACID/AMINOPROPANEDIOL AMIDES/ESTERS
Substance information
The name component "oleic" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, oleic acid (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). "Aminopropanediol" refers to 3-Amino-1,2-propanediol as alcoholic component of this ingredient. Amides are generally conversion products of carbonic acids (carboxylic acids, mostly fatty acids) or other acids with nitrogen compounds (ammonia or alkyl and alkanol amines, amino acids etc). Examples: "stearamides" are amides of the stearic acid, "cocamides" are amides of coconut fatty acids. "Ester" or "esters" refers to an esterification product (condensation product of alcohol and acid) or a trans-esterification product obtained through direct reaction of fats (mostly triglycerides) with alcohols.
