The name component "lauric" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, lauric acid (dodecanoic acid) (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). The name component "myristic" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, myristic acid (tetradecanoic acid) (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). The name component "palmitic" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid) (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). The name component "oleic" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, oleic acid (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). "Amino" mostly refers to an nitrogen hydrogen grouping (NH2-). Amides are generally conversion products of carbonic acids (carboxylic acids, mostly fatty acids) or other acids with nitrogen compounds (ammonia or alkyl and alkanol amines, amino acids etc). Examples: "stearamides" are amides of the stearic acid, "cocamides" are amides of coconut fatty acids. "Ester" or "esters" refers to an esterification product (condensation product of alcohol and acid) or a trans-esterification product obtained through direct reaction of fats (mostly triglycerides) with alcohols.
