"Methyl" mostly refers to methanol (methyl alcohol) as alcoholic component or generally the methyl group as the smallest hydrocarbon residue with one carbon atom. Dimethyl-, trimethyl- etc refer to two, three or more methyl groups. "Ethyl" refers mostly to ethanol (ethyl alcohol) as an alcoholic component or generally a hydrocarbon residue with 2 carbon atoms. This ingredient contains cetearyl alcohol (a mixture of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol) as alcoholic component. "Dimonium …" refers to a quaternary dimethyl ammonium salt, mostly on the basis of fatty amines. Examples: "steardimonium…" contains a stearyl-(C18) carbon chain; "laurdimonium…" corresponds to a lauryl-(C12-) hydrocarbon residue. Tosylates are salts or esters of p-toluenesulphonic acid.
