The name component "lauric" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, lauric acid (dodecanoic acid) (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). The name component "myristic" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, myristic acid (tetradecanoic acid) (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). The name component "palmitic" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid) (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). The name component "stearic" means that the ingredient contains, as fatty acid component, amongst others, stearic acid (octadecanoic acid) (mostly introduced via an acylation reaction). Glycerides are conversion products of glycerin (esters), which are obtained through a reaction with fats (through so-called trans-esterification) or through direct esterification with one or more fatty acid(s) (mono-, di- or triglycerides).
