"Methyl" mostly refers to methanol (methyl alcohol) as alcoholic component or generally the methyl group as the smallest hydrocarbon residue with one carbon atom. Dimethyl-, trimethyl- etc refer to two, three or more methyl groups. "T-butyl" or "tert-butyl" mostly refers to tertiary butanol (2-methyl-2-propanol, t-butyl alcohol or t-butanol) as alcoholic component or generally a branched saturated hydrocarbon residue with 4 carbon atoms. "Hydroxy..." generally refers to a hydroxy (hydroxyl) group -OH; the functional group of alcohols. Cinnamates are salts or esters of cinnamic acid.
