Perfumes and toilet waters
Description
Perfumes (parfums) and toilet waters are based on aqueous-alcoholic solutions of fragrances. In addition, they contain in most cases colorants and possibly solubilisers, consistency enhancing substances and stabilisers (UV filters such as BENZOPHENONE-4, antioxidants such as Vitamin E). Depending on the concentration of perfume oils, it is distinguished between the following toilet waters: eau de cologne, originally the French translation of Kölnisch Wasser, refers at present to every light toilet water regardless of the scent with a fragrance concentration of 3 to 8%. Eau de toilette (EDT) is the stronger, more fragrant version with a fragrance share of usually 8 to 10%. Eau de parfum or parfum de toilette range with approximately 10 to 20% above eau de toilette. Perfumes (eau de parfum, EDP) finally have a fragrance share of 20 to 40%.
