Substancegroup
Moisturisers
Description
Moisturisers are substances which are added to cosmetic care products to increase the water binding capacity of the skin and / or the hydration of the stratum corneum. This compensates for any loss of moisture and makes the skin smooth and supple. As a rule they are hydrophilic substances which bind water to themselves. Suitable substances are eg aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, glycerin and the combination of substances which are modelled on the NMF (natural moisturising factor) of the skin (urea, lactic acid, amino acids, etc).
