Substancegroup
Stabilisers
Description
Stabilisers are substances which are added to unstable substances or mixtures to delay or to prevent undesired chemical or physical changes. These transformations are essentially triggered or accelerated by higher temperature, oxygen or UV radiation. In body care products such as shampoos, foam stabilisers such as fatty acid diethanolamides (eg cocamide DEA) are used. In sunscreens emulsion stabilisers are added to avoid a separation of the oil and water phase.
